  • Head & Shoulders names Angels pitcher C.J. Wilson as newest MLB 'Mane Man'

    CINCINNATI — Procter & Gamble’s Head & Shoulders, the official shampoo of Major League Baseball, has announced that All-Star pitcher C.J. Wilson of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim is the newest athlete to join the brand’s “Mane Man” ambassador team, a roster that includes Troy Polamalu and Brett Keisel of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Olympian Michael Phelps.

  • Swisse Wellness launches supplement line at Walgreens

    NEW YORK — A line of OTC products from Australia will hit the shelves of Walgreens Friday.

    Swisse Wellness announced plans to roll out its line of multivitamins and other products in October 2012, hiring actress Nicole Kidman as the spokeswoman for the brand.

    An announcement on the company's website noted that the release would coincide with Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday as it touted its Ultivite multivitamins, Swisse Ultiboost Liver Detox and Swisse Ultivite + Energy.

  • Quaker promotes healthy living with NFL contest

    CHICAGO — The winner of a contest sponsored by the Quaker Oats Co. will appear with an NFL rookie quarterback in an event sponsored by the company to promote healthy living.

    Quaker, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, said 10-year-old Hunter Paulin would join the Indianapolis Colts' Andrew Luck at the Kids Day at NFL Experience Driven by GMC, where Luck will introduce him to kids from the New Orleans area during a Quaker Oatmeal breakfast event before they run football drills. Luck and Paulin will encourage kids to eat healthy, stay active and serve as role models for healthy living.

    DUBLIN, Ohio — Barbasol, a line of shave creams and after-shave products for men, has launched “Shave Like a Man,” the company’s first new advertising campaign since 2008, and the brand’s largest national, multi-media effort in its 94-year history.

    ST. LOUIS — Budweiser launched its first Twitter account on Jan. 27, and made a splash with its first tweet: an image of a newborn member of the "Budweiser Clydesdales Class of 2013."

     

  • Carmex contestant drains half-court shot, wins $75,000 and gets tackled by LeBron James

    MIAMI — In a shot that made the rounds Friday on ESPN and other sports shows, Miami Heat fan Michael Drysch drained a half-court shot in the Carmex Half-Court Hero contest, netting $75,000 and getting tackled by Miami Heat superstar LeBron James. 

    In addition to winning $75,000 for himself, Drysch also scored a $75,000 donation for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Lebron James Family Foundation.

  • Axe celebrates Apollo launch by premiering TV spot during Super Bowl XLVII

    ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. — To celebrate the biggest product launch in its 30-year history — the launch of the Apollo line of products — Unilever’s Axe men’s grooming line will premiere a television commercial titled “Lifeguard” on Feb. 3 during the third quarter of Super Bowl XLVII.

    The commercial, which can be viewed online at YouTube.com/AXE, will direct Super Bowl viewers to sign up to enter for the chance to win a trip to space.

    TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — NASCAR's Dale Earnhardt Jr. has signed on as a Goody's spokesman, Prestige Brands Holdings announced Tuesday.
