    LONGMONT, Colo. — Madhava Natural Sweeteners has introduced raw organic agave nectar that now is fair-trade-certified.

    Starting this week, Madhava will be shipping fair-trade-certified organic raw agave nectar to supermarkets and natural food stores nationwide. Madhava raw organic agave nectar is made from the natural juice of the weber blue agave plant, which is organically grown and sustainably farmed in the Sierra Madres region of Mexico.

  • Milky Way debuts chocolate ice cream bars

    HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — Mars Chocolate is bringing a new treat to the frozen food aisle.

    New Milky Way chocolate ice cream bars are made with chocolate ice cream, a layer of caramel and covered with a smooth milk chocolate coating to deliver the classic Milky Way bar taste, the company said. The treat now is available at stores nationwide.

  • Report: Convenience, cost major factors in driving patients toward mHealth solutions

    NEW YORK — More patients are actively looking for and expecting to find mobile health solutions, according to the global Economist Intelligence Unit report, which was commissioned by PricewaterhouseCoopers and released Thursday.

    Roughly one-half of patients surveyed for this report predict that mHealth will improve the convenience, cost and quality of their health care in the next three years. Meanwhile, 6-in-10 doctors and payers believe that its widespread adoption in their countries is inevitable in the near future.

  • Boulder Canyon Natural Foods introduces Canyon Cut chips

    PHOENIX — Boulder Canyon Natural Foods has expanded to include a line of kettle cooked, ridged potato chips.

    Canyon Cut chips include totally natural (original), sour cream and chives, and honey barbeque flavors. Like all Boulder Canyon snacks, the new and improved Canyon Cut line features only natural ingredients and contains no trans fats, no cholesterol and no MSG. In addition, they are gluten free, Non GMO and Kosher certified.

    The new kettle cooked chips arrive in stores this month with a suggested retail price range of $2.99 to %3.29 per 6.5-oz. bag.

  • Dr. Reddy's launches Parkinson's disease drug

    HYDERABAD, India — Dr. Reddy's Labs has launched a drug for treating Parkinson's disease, the company said Thursday.

    Dr. Reddy's introduced ropinirole hydrochloride extended-release tablets in the 2-mg, 4-mg, 6-mg, 8-mg and 12-mg strengths. The 2-mg, 4-mg and 6-mg strengths will be available in 30- and 90-count bottle sizes, while the other two strengths will be available in 30-count bottles.

    The drug is a generic version of GlaxoSmithKline's Requip XL, which had sales of $58 million during the 12-month period ended in March, according to IMS Health.

  • Perrigo wins approval for renal failure drug

    ALLEGAN, Mich. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a drug for kidney disease made by Perrigo.

    Perrigo announced the approval of calcium acetate capsules, a generic version of Nabi Biopharmaceuticals' Phoslo Gelcaps. The drug is used to treat end-stage renal failure.

    Perrigo settled a patent infringement lawsuit concerning the drug last year, though terms of the settlement were not disclosed. Annual sales of the branded version of the drug and generic versions were $95 million, according to Wolters Kluwer Health.

    NEW YORK — Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Pressman Toy have teamed up to bring to market new games based on "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy and the upcoming film "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey."
