    ROCHESTER, N.Y. — VoicePort on Monday introduced CLARO, a rebranding of its PharmaPhonetics suite of pharmacy solutions. The rebranding is aimed at reflecting the evolution of the platform from an earlier focus on communication to its current state as an analytics and patient intervention application. 
     
  • Telehealth to save costs, expand into specialties

    Telehealth is expected to grow tenfold, according to Walgreens director of digital health Atul Singh and MDLive VP strategic partnerships Amy Clark who led an Insight Session Monday examining the growth, benefits and future of telehealth and telemedicine. Since 2014, Walgreens and MDLive have collaborated to offer telemedicine visits with MDLive physicians through Walgreens’ mobile app and website.

  • Ateb’s Time My Meds surpasses 1 million patients enrolled, managed

    BOSTON — Patient care solutions company Ateb on Friday announced a major milestone for the company from the National Association of Chain Drug Stores’ Total Store Expo. Currently, more than 1 million patients are enrolled and actively managed by Ateb’s pharmacy partners using its Time My Meds automated medication synchronization solution. 
     
  • Ateb, iMedicare team on plan comparison integration

    NEW YORK — Pharmacy technology solutions company Ateb and Medicare plan comparison software maker iMedicare on Thursday announced a new partnership that will integrate iMedicare into Ateb’s Patient Management Access Portal. The integration will allow pharmacies to facilitate viewing and comparing Medicare plan options so patients can choose the best one for them during the Medicare Part D enrollment process, the companies said. 
     
  • PrescribeWellness, FPN expand partnership

     
    IRVINE, Calif. — Cloud-based services company PrescribeWellness and the Federation of Pharmacy Networks announced Wednesday that they would be expanding their 3-year-old partnership. The expansion will bring PrescribeWellness’ Medicare plan comparison software, PrescribeMedicare, to FPN’s network of pharmacy groups and their member pharmacies. 
     
  • Tech cos. put adherence solutions front and center

    With medication nonadherence estimated to cost the U.S. healthcare system anywhere between $100 billion and $300 billion dollars, according to the National Institutes of Health, pharmacy technology companies are looking to create tools that pharmacists can implement to help patients be more adherent, saving the health system money and improving patient health in the process.

  • IBM Watson Health to drive patient-centered care

    The one common denominator that will bring into focus all future visions on what retail pharmacy will look like 10 years from now is secure connectivity and big data. Successfully managing health at scale will be predicated on efficient population management algorithms that enable caregivers to successfully intercept patients before a health event occurs.

  • Telehealth moves into behavioral care

    As interest in telehealth options increases, so too does the diversification of the services offered through telehealth providers. Both patients and telehealth companies are looking at behavioral health as the next frontier in remote care. In its look at the biggest health industry issues of 2016, PricewaterhouseCooper’s Health Research Institute found that 72% of 18- to 44-year-olds and 43% of those older than 45 years would be willing to use telehealth services to consult with a mental health provider instead of an in-person visit.
