  • Harveys kicks off grocery giveaway

    SALISBURY, N.C. — One week after Food Lion announced its grocery giveaway, another Delhaize America banner has kicked off a similar program.

    Harveys said members of its Hometown Rewards loyalty program have the chance to win free groceries for a year. Additionally, customers also can instantly win 1-of-more-than-5,000 free national and private-brand items now through April 26.

    Customers can participate in this sweepstakes at participating Harveys stores in Georgia, Florida and South Carolina.

  • Pet Head provides products to bands for Backstage Artist Lounge

    NEW YORK — A line of products developed for pets by Tigi Bed Head will be the exclusive pet grooming, accessories, toys and apparel company for the Backstage Artist Lounge, which provides famous bands with a variety of sample products during their rock tours.

    Pet Head, whose products are pH-adjusted and are paraben-, sulfate-, DEA- and cruelty-free, will travel on tour with famous bands by providing a variety of sample products during their tours.

    Pet Head's lineup includes such products as Dirty Talk shampoo and So Spoiled conditioning cream rinse for dogs.

  • Ready, set, blow: American Greetings introduces latest birthday card innovation

    CLEVELAND — American Greetings said it is revolutionizing the tradition of blowing out birthday candles into a multisensory experience.

    With its new Ready, Set, Blow line of greeting cards, the recipient is prompted to blow on the card upon opening it. A special sensor is then activated, making the festive scene come to life with LED lights, as well as either an exciting birthday song or sound. In each card, a breath of air extinguishes birthday candles, activates horns and lights or recreates a childhood wish on a dandelion, American Greetings said.

    CINCINNATI — Procter & Gamble's Crest Pro-Health portfolio now includes the new Invigorating Clean toothpaste and mouth rinse.

    IRVING, Texas — Hostess is going "old-school cool."

    For a limited time, the iconic snack cakes maker's treats, including chocolate cupcakes, Ding Dongs and Ho Hos, will tout retro packaging. Hostess also is bringing back the original banana Twinkie-filling recipe for a limited time.

    MELVILLE, N.Y. — Alba Botanica, whose products are available at CVS, Target, Whole Foods and natural food stores, has revamped its Advanced line, which now is known as Natural Even Advanced.

    The enhanced collection boasts eight reformulated and repackaged skin care products that target uneven pigmentation to improve the appearance of skin's clarity and tone for radiant-looking skin.

  • Essie unveils limited-edition nail color

    NEW YORK — Essie Cosmetics has joined forces with shoe brand Toms Shoes to support a global campaign to raise awareness of the millions of children at risk for disease and infection as they grow up without shoes.

    As part of the One Day Without Shoes campaign, which kicks off April 5, Essie this week said it would give away a bottle of its limited-edition One Day Without Blues nail color, a light-blue shade designed to mirror the Toms Shoes flag, to the first 5,000 people that sign up.
